Silver Screen
Folkestone’s traditional cinema experience.
Folkestone’s independent cinema operates within Folkestone’s historic Town Hall, the site of Kent’s first film screenings in 1896. Closed and sold off in the 1980s – a decade that also saw the demolition of Folkestone’s last cinema – the Town Hall’s abandoned upper levels re-opened as the Silver Screen Cinema in 1990.
Today, the town’s much-loved traditional cinema experience continues to show a diverse programme of films and events, including the latest movie releases every day.
