Originally conceived as a live performance piece, this is the premiere exhibition of Catherine Hoffmann’s new immersive Virtual Reality installation, developed with support from Screen South & Arts Council England, Wysing Arts Centre and Cambridge Junction.
A bleeding and spewing ‘On the road’ Wormhole of Our Formation Touches on themes of crisis in the Anthropocene, mental health, austerity, aging and the environment; the work charts a personal journey across the UK during a series of ‘red alert’ storms, whilst falling apart in stark bed and breakfast rooms.
The work brings together 360 film, writing & ambisonic sound produced by Hoffmann in her usual absurdist manner, to document her debt, displacement & eventual demise, throughout the winter of 2022.
This is a VR psychoactive ride into the fragmentation of the self. A journey through breakdown Britain as Tetley tea bags pile up and scrambled eggs congeal.
Free entry - just turn up at the gallery. Open Wednesday - Friday 10-5pm & Saturday 11am – 4pm. Private View - Wednesday 18th October 5pm - 9pm
